Equipment for grain processing and storage units is one of the first in the Brazilian market to comply with the new NBR 17066 standard.

São Paulo, March 6, 2024 – Kepler Weber has just launched a new line of silos for grain processing and storage units. Developed by the company’s engineers and specialists, it makes storage safer, because, in addition to being more resistant, it meets the standards set out in NBR 17066.

“This standard was developed in collaboration between Kepler Weber and our customers and Brazilian authorities, and aims to establish in Brazil a standard focused on the structural design of metal silos made of corrugated sheets, which was previously based on international standards,” explains Fabiano Schneider, chief industrial and product officer at Kepler Weber.

Leader in Latin America in post-harvest solutions, the company invested, in 2023 alone, R$71.4 million to expand and modernize factories in Panambi (RS) and Campo Grande (MS), and comply with regulatory standards and technology information. Of this total, R$3.5 million was invested in product development, such as the new silo.

“Within the development process, and following the Lean Manufacturing methodology, we invested resources and people to create an equipment item that is robust and suitable for storage conditions,” reinforces Schneider.

According to Kepler Weber, the new silo is one of the first available on the market that meets the NBR 17066 sizing standard. The model also has access doors, including a door on the roof, in accordance with safety regulations.

“The development of increasingly safer products is a priority for us and our customers, which is why we have invested in items such as the new silo or the sweeping screw, an innovation that allows the silo to be unloaded without the need for people to go inside it,” explains Bernardo Nogueira, chief commercial officer at Kepler Weber.
